"It's 1921, Birmingham gangster William (Billy) Kimber has moved south, partnered with the McDonald brothers of the Borough, and formed a new gang – The Elephant Boys.Their plan, to take on the north London gangs for control of the lucrative racetrack betting, and so the racetrack wars begin. Established to hide operations from the prying eyes of the authorities, and especially Darby Sabini's Italian gang, you have an exclusive invitation to discover what lies behind the innocuous front of Mr Kimber's “wallpaper shop”.
Enter their world, and if you dare, be “stood up” to become part of the gang. You find the secret door, and before you is the hustle and bustle of the gang's London gambling den. A bookmaker calls the runners and riders, the cashier provides the funds.
Danny Fingers plays out favourites old and new on the Old Joanna. A crowd jostles to get served at the bar. Time to get stuck in. Always keen to exploit the latest opportunity, the gang have created an Art Deco Club Room to cater to London's new “Bright Young Things”. Serving dinner, fine wines and the latest cocktails.
After dinner, the party really begins both upstairs and down. There'll be more singing, more drinking, more waging and certainly a whole lot more dancing.
Returning customers and stood up members of the gang are welcome to pay a visit after dinner, so long as they let us know in advance."
